Eminem vs. Mariah...why?

Posted by dap_dorsey Aug 8, 2009

Okay. So...Mariah...why? I understand you have a new album coming out, but why would you go back at Eminem for his years of name dropping. If you have no clue what I'm talking about, I'm of course referring to Mariah Carey's lead single from her new album "Obsessed".

As a self-professed hip hop aficionado, I feel it only fair to judge this like any other hip hop heavyweight fight. Who knows, this could be the new Roxanne Shante vs. UTFO. There are a few caustic barbs on Mariah's end. Namely: "Got you all fired up with your Napoleon Complex. Seein' right through you like you're bathin' in windex" as well as "It must be the weed, it must be the E. 'Cause you be poppin', hood you get it poppin'" and of course this is even cute "You a mom and pop, I'm a corporation. I'm the press conference, you a conversation".

Nice. If you were coming at hubby like this? You would probably kill what's left of Nick's Hip Hop career. But we'll leave Mr. America's Got Talent alone. Eminem said more than enough. Seriously. Eminem has thrown deadly shots at Ja Rule, his on and off again wife/girlfriend Kim and even his own mother. Her attempts to get back didn't go well and she's got a whole childhood of personal information to drudge up. Have you not seen 8-Mile? How do you battle a man who will diss himself?

I actually gave Em some props for a hot second for not jumping into Madame Butterfly's childish fray, but that just wouldn't be Marshall. Every hip hop enthusiast loves a good battle. It makes things interesting especially when it's personal. Eminem never fails to disappoint on this front.

I WISH I could post half the stuff Eminem said. I'm much more comfortable letting his YouTube video speak for itself.

I will say this. The battle may as well have been over before it got started as soon as Eminem said:

"Sit back and relax homey, kick back and relax, grab a six pack while I kick facts/Yeah Dre’s sick track, perfect way to get back/Wanna hear something wick wack?/I got the exact same tat that’s on Nick’s back"

WOW. You know who I feel the worst for in this situation? Nick Cannon. I actually like the guy. He's obviously in love with Mariah, you can tell he adores her whenever he speaks about her. The fact that he can rap doesn't equip him to go toe to toe with one of Hip Hop's Heavyweights, and even though most men who's wives were being disrespected would step up and duke it out, in the Hollywierd world of high priced lawyers and strapped bodyguards; I doubt that's an arena Nick wants to step into either. He obviously can't calm his wife down, otherwise she never would've released this as a lead single. And no one can calm Eminem, he does what he wants all the time. This has potential to get so much worse before it gets better. All Nick can do is grin and bear it.

Based on height and reach, Nick may be able to take Eminem if they were to decide to take this to maybe a celebrity boxing match for charity. It wouldn't shut Em up, but it may give Nick some of his pride back. But then again, how do you combat crazy?

  1. Unknown Said,

He put all of their business out there. I don't know why she went after him because that's a battle she won't win. Her song gets more airplay but he tore her apart with his comeback.
