Donna Simpson of New Jersey is looking to go down in history as a women that weighs 1,000 pounds (SMH). She told telegraph.co.uk, “I’d love to be 1,000lb. It might be hard though. Running after my daughter keeps my weight down.” She's got three kids, from 3 to 14. Where's Howard Stern now? (*shoutout to Illseed @AllHipHop.com)

All Hail King James - Lord of Media Relations

Posted by dap_dorsey Jul 8, 2010

He's basically held Facebook, Twitter, ESPN and newspaper headlines hostage. Every status and tweet from die hard NBA fans to casual spectators can't help but comment on the multi-media circus that is "where will Lebron go?". Cleveland has placed their dignity at the feet of "The Chosen One" hoping that playing a stones throw away from his home town of Akron will be enough to entice the 2 time league MVP to stay in the buckeye state...but they've got stiff competition.

New York offers the glitz and glamor of broadway and an opportunity to play for a team with a historic past and alongside a recently signed 100 million dollar acquisition in the form of Amarie Stoudemire. Then there's Miami with it's tax breaks, hot nights and scantily clad women gracing the beaches and night clubs with the promise of being part of yet another big three with franchise player D. Wade and newly signed free agent Chris Bosh.

What will he do? Why do we care? Lebron James is only the single biggest entity in sports since the departure of Jordan. Reluctantly or a mantle he took upon himself, you've got to admit, he's got a lot of "his airness" in him. Kobe will always be Black Mamba and Shaq is still the Man of Steel (despite injury and age taking a toll), but no athlete in the NBA is as heavily watched and rooted for than the boy wonder that is King James. Want proof? Half the nation will be tuned into a live broadcast press-conference from the Boys & Girls Club in Connecticut as he informs the world what color trunks he'll be jogging up and down the court in.

AND AMAZINGLY! This press conference is all positives. It generates interest for the NBA (which has languished), it raises money for the Boys & Girls Club (all proceeds from revenue go to the club) and it will instantly rejuvenate the economy of any city he intends to now call home.
David Stern would probably kiss this man had he the grapefruits to do so. All other press-conferences by NBA atheletes have to do with some sort of club altercation, rape or gun charge. No dog fighting, baby mama drama or tears shed on YouTube...this one's a positive note.

So yea, Lebron's smiling as half the country awaits a decision that takes less than a minute to utter. But that's the genius of it. He may be young, but he knows how to extend his brand. People who weren't checking for Lebron before have more than a casual curiosity now, and NBA fans know that wherever he goes, leaving Cleveland is going to DRASTICALLY change the landscape. You can't buy this type of press...but apparently you can sell it. I applaud James.

Not only for being a class act, but knowing his worth and showing he can be a franchise off the court. I just hope he doesn't go the reality show route like Chad Johnson, T.O. and Micheal Vick have...SMH. That's a blog for a different time. For now? It's a fight to the finish to see who will pick up arguably the most sought after free agent in decades. In the words of Muhammad Ali...

Rumble young man, rumble.
